As a Manager in the Indirect Tax department with a focus on Global Trade Advisory and Customs, you will be a part of a dynamic team within one of the leading Big 4 accounting firms. Your role will involve providing comprehensive tax advisory services to clients, assisting them in managing the complex and ever-changing global trade and customs regulations. You will work closely with multinational clients, helping them navigate the intricate landscape of international trade and customs to minimize risks, optimize opportunities, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
Tax | Indirect Tax – Global Trade Advisory | Assistant Manager
During your tenure as an Assistant Manager in Corporate Tax, you will demonstrate and develop your capabilities in the following areas:
- Provide expert advice and support to clients on global trade and customs matters, including import/export compliance, tariff classification, valuation, origin determination, customs audits, trade agreements, and free trade zones.
- Conduct research on international trade regulations, customs laws, and policies to stay up-to-date with changes and interpret their impact on client operations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement effective strategies to optimize supply chains, manage duties and tariffs, and reduce costs for clients.
- Assist in conducting internal reviews and audits to assess clients' compliance with customs and trade regulations, identify areas of improvement, and develop corrective action plans.
- Prepare and review customs documentation, including import/export declarations, duty drawback claims, customs ruling requests, and voluntary disclosures.
- Participate in client meetings and presentations to explain complex trade and customs concepts, provide guidance on compliance, and offer recommendations for process enhancements.
- Support the development and delivery of training programs and workshops on global trade and customs topics for clients and internal staff.
- Stay abreast of emerging trends, industry best practices, and regulatory developments related to global trade and customs, and share knowledge with the team and clients.
- Collaborate with team members to contribute to business development activities, such as proposal preparation, client pitches, and building strong client relationships.
- Maintain accurate records of client interactions, project details, and time spent on various tasks using internal systems and tools.
- Understand and provide support with regard to the full client engagement cycle including providing instructions and following up with respective teams in relation to risk, finance, invoicing, Job codes, and WiP management. Training will be provided on those areas upon joining.
- Coach and mentor juniors. Assist juniors with quality of deliverables. Champions processes and procedures and leads by example by being thorough and timely
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field. A relevant master's degree or professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA, or CTP) is a plus.
- Experience in indirect tax, customs, global trade, or related fields. Prior experience with a Big 4 accounting firm or a global trade consulting firm is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of international trade regulations, customs laws, import/export compliance, and relevant trade agreements (e.g., WTO, NAFTA, CETA, TPP).
- Familiarity with customs valuation, tariff classification, country of origin determination, and other customs-related concepts.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex regulations and apply them to practical situations.
- Proficiency in using trade management systems, customs software, and Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact confidently with clients and team members at all levels.
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving and a desire to continuously learn and develop expertise in global trade and customs.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and adapt to changing priorities.
